John Gamboa is a San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California technology professional with a career in IT dating back to 1998. His background includes systems engineering, network engineering, IT project planning, Microsoft infrastructure, cloud systems, virtualization, security tools, and business technology support.
John is first and foremost a man of faith and family. He and his wife have built a life together with their five children in Fairfield, California, while his professional work has taken him across many parts of the Bay Area and Northern California.
How Technology Became Part of the Story
John’s interest in computers started early. As a teenager, he upgraded his father’s IBM XT from a monochrome monitor to a color-capable setup so he could run a game that required color graphics. In college, he built his first PC, a 386 that he later upgraded further. Those early hands-on experiences grew into a long-term professional interest in technology, infrastructure, systems, and problem solving.
After taking a Windows NT 4.0 MCSE class in the late 1990s, John landed his first network administrator role and continued building a career in IT systems, support, consulting, and engineering.
Professional Foundation
Over the years, John has supported a wide range of environments, from desktop and helpdesk support to servers, routers, firewalls, Microsoft Exchange, Windows Server, Office 365, virtualization platforms, VPNs, storage, VoIP, SD-WAN, SaaS platforms, and disaster recovery solutions.
Life Outside IT
Outside of technology work, John values time with his wife and children, local travel, reading, golf, basketball, personal growth, entrepreneurship, and discovering places throughout Northern California.
